The Geelong training awards are the major event on the vocation, education and training calendar. The awards, in their 23rd year, attracted more than 500 guests to the presentation night. There were 64 nominees competing for the title and more than $12,000 in cash and prizes was donated by local and Victorian businesses. The nominees represented a broad range of trade and vocational areas, including carpentry, bricklaying, automotive, engineering, painting and decorating, cookery, hairdressing, horticulture, business administration, plumbing and gasfitting, electrotechnology and panel-beating. Bianca Watts won Trainee of the Year after successfully completing a certificate 4 in Business Administration during 2008 at Signature Homes Geelong. "Bianca is one in a million. She is one of the most amazing trainees I have had and I treated her like a mature age student, having only to mentor her not to ‘teach'." -Margaret Campbell, Gordon TAFE trainer Bianca received a cash prize, a trophy and her name added to a perpetual shield. She also was recognised by the Gordon Institute of TAFE on May 19th 2009 at the 2009 Outstanding Achievement Awards. Bianca was presented as Most Outstanding Trainee and has now being nominated in the Victorian State Awards later in the year. | | | | | | | | | _______________________________________________________________________ | | | | | | | | | Signature Homes Geelong, their first time entry has won a major award at the recent Master Builders Regional Building Awards in July 2008. They were recognized for exceptional quality in construction of Victoria’s peak building industry body. Master Builders named Signature Homes Geelong the region’s Best CustomHome for the $200,000 to $300,000 category. Master Builders Executive Director,Brian Welch, said entrants in the association’s South West Regional Building Awards were of an exceptional standard.
